Smiles for a Winter Day

It was a special weekend for our family as Emmeline was baptized on Sunday.
As is our tradition, we neglected to get a family picture,
but here are a few of Emmie with friends and family.

This morning our sweet little girl had a lot of faces for us to enjoy!

Three Months

Our little Emmeline is 3 Months old! She is showering us with sweet smiles, coos, laughs, bicycling on her invisible bicycle, rolling over and taking in the world.  Here's a video of her second rolling over.

You Know You're a New Parent When....

1. You put a disposable diaper through the washer
2. You leave your purse in the cart at the grocery store
3. You almost miss church because you overslept after the last feeding
4. You have no idea what day of the week it is
5. You forget to pay rent
6. You wake up in a panic because the baby is upside down, only its not the baby, its the cat
7. You sway as you push the grocery cart minus the baby
8. You can't write or talk in complete sentences anymore
9. You aren't sure when you showered last
10. Eating 3 meals a day, feeding the cats and keeping the baby warm and fed is a successful day

In the fog of newborn life we're discovering new rhythms and a new perspective on worship- even the tiniest of mundane tasks is a liturgy in which we can praise God for this little life.
Here are a few shots from a day in our life:

Our sweet babe is 12 weeks old. How did that happen?

Another Year Unravels

As another year unravels, we enter it gently, from the sleepy, wonderful world of new baby. We began it with a wonderful visit from the Boddeckers, a snowy white blanket outside, brunch with family and lots of special moments with Emmeline. As she reaches eleven weeks of life in our family we marvel at her.  Even though she's had a rough start with lots of reflux issues we can already tell she is going to be a mover, a thinker, a listener and a gentle heart. As we approach three months we want to always remember the sweet discoveries of life through her eyes- her pure delight in light and sound.  As we settle into quiet new life rhythms (though quiet should be broadly defined here) we find they are good for our whole family. The perspective of this wee girl is one we want to capture too as we begin another year. So we are learning (again) to rejoice in the simple beautiful things that surround us, gifts from God. Emmeline is one of the sweetest of these blessings to start out 2013.
