Hibernating

We feel like a family of hibernating bears! Our last month holds very little excitement in the normal sense. But it was full of many wonderful and cherished moments as a family busy in home rhythms of learning and growing together. We've enjoyed tea by the woodstove while listening to The Lord of the Rings and reading Little Britches. We are enjoying the return of blue birds and geese flying over our house to the nearby lake. We're working through the Heidleberg catechism and french after dinner and I marvel at the memorization skills of our little women. Phoebe is enjoying this season of hats, gloves, boots and slippers and likes to wear all of them all day long. She's talking all the time, exploring her world and following after her beloved sisters.

Today is day 2 of a snowstorm and we're already over 1 foot of snow.  It's brought an extra level of coziness and we've made scones and beeswax candles, studied snowflakes and worked on quilts.  I'm thankful for the gift of being able to be home together.
