Snow day (the second)

This is Stanislaus the Snowman. He came into being late in the afternoon today. Wednesday and Thursday both found Adam working from home following two rather generous snow storms. Apparently Philadelphia International Airport received almost fifteen inches of snow last night. I'd say we got about eight to ten.

Our feline friends were very intrigued by the white cold stuff on the ground.

In other news, we made pizza tonight:

Followed by Blueberry Cream Cheese Cake:

Also, we both have this stuck in our heads. We recently saw The Snowman for the first time.

Lastly, here's a video of me mucking about on one of our recently completed organs.

single digits

As in temperatures. Last night we got in the car and the thermometer read 8°. It was the first time (having owned the car since October '09), that we noticed it registering a temperature in the single-digit range.

And tonight it's 4°.

...

In other news, it's happening again.

A and J and the cats are relocating. Here are a few pictures of what we're leaving, from a misty morning several weeks back:

Claude remembers our last move vividly. It was a time of stacks and stacks of boxes of books:

In the meantime, and in an effort to stay sane, we have been baking (boston cream cake):

And making snowflakes:

Whilst Clara supervises:

Gute Nacht, all.

Until next time, do check out A's pictures of stained glass windows. As a pipe organ builder, one spends quite a bit of time in churches. Here you can find a few favourites.

Neujahrsfest

We had a quiet New Year's Eve celebration at home, with some homemade soft pretzels, fried mozzarella, and artichoke/spinach dip.

On New Year's Day, our dear friends Erik, Jane, and their 9-month-old daughter Meredith came for brunch and a few rounds of boggle.  It was a nice visit, and after they left (Erik had a violin lesson with a very dedicated student on New Year's Day), we took a short walk in the fresh air.
