Beach Getaway

We just returned from a lovely little beach getaway at Long Beach Island, NJ with the Dieffenbach Srs. Adam played the organ at a little church on the island and we relaxed on the beach on the other days.  Emmeline took to the sea on day 2 but wasn't too impressed with the sand. Upon coming home we discovered balmy weather and an overflowing vegetable garden. Canning season, here we come! 

9 Months

Dear Emmeline,

You are nine months old today! We rejoice in God's goodness to us in your little life and we pray His blessing on you as you grow.  It seems that you are changing by leaps and bounds and your Momma and Papa can barely keep up with you! You are such a mover- you climb steps, strollers, chairs, tubs, pools, beds, cribs and people.  You take more and more steps on your own each day and we can sense that your courage is growing.  Your awareness of the world amazes us- you are very pensive sometimes, watching people, watching them speak and make sounds.  But you are also a very silly girl- clapping and laughing, playing peek a boo and singing.  You still adore books and now listen to the stories and turn pages.  You have said "Mama, Dada, Baba, Papa and cat".  You have decided you're done with mashed up baby food and want whatever we're eating.  You are still a people person but you're going through a phase of shyness as well. You still have blue eyes and more brown hair is coming in. You are a delight sweet daughter and we love you. Can you possibly have been out in this world for the same time you were growing in the womb? Here are some pictures from our week.

Emmie's first trip

Emmeline went on her first road trip this past week. We took a trip to the Finger Lakes, NY- in particular to Canandaigua - to visit our dear friend and adopted Aunt RoseLee and her family.

It was a wonderful trip and Emmeline did well with the 6.5 hours of driving each way. It was a time of wonderful fellowship, beautiful surroundings, delicious food, the sweetest dog (Adam wants a dog now), a huge old bathtub Emmie loved and a special time sharing worship together at their church.  Thank you dear friends!!  While we were there we celebrated our fifth anniversary and were gifted with a dinner out and time just the two of us! Can it really be five years already?
