Emmeline's First Christmas

Emmeline's first Christmas began by celebrating her 2 months birthday

She loves to kick and watch her reflection in the mirror
The Fourth Sunday of Advent came and went- we had a fun time in Lebanon celebrating Sara and Doug's upcoming baby at the baby shower and promptly forgot to take any pictures

We learned to hold up our head some more

We have been actively pursuing our thumb

We had our traditional Cornish Hen dinner by firelight on Christmas Eve

We got all dressed up and went to Christmas Eve Service

Then in spite of not feeling too great (Papa) we went over the river and through the
woods to Grandma's house for Christmas day!

Emmeline finally met her other bigger cousins- Robert, Richard and Reuben

And she had lots of snuggling time with her Aunts

And gave Aunt Pinchy lots of gifts on her shirt

Next up is Christmas with the Kleemans this coming Sunday!

Two Months Old

Dear Emmeline,

Sweet baby girl, today is your two month birthday. How we love and cherish each and everything about you. We love the way you smell, your sideways smiles, your blue eyes, your spikey hair and your coos, honks and squeaks.  We laugh at your busy feet and love your long fingers.   You are so observant now and watch the Christmas lights with such still concentration.  You listen to music with big eyes and light up when you see us.  Your little personality is emerging and how we love seeing the world through your new eyes. As cold December days come our way, this year we hardly notice because of the warm baby snuggled in our arms.   We pray that you feel better soon! Emme, darling baby girl happy 2 month birthday. We love you so much! May God watch over you and bless you.

Love,
Momma and Papa. + le chats.

Post tenebras lux....

After darkness..... light.  We are reaching some of the darkest days of the year and we're reminded
of the Light of Christ that came into the world as a baby so long ago.  As we pass the second Sunday of Advent we remember the darkness of our souls and the Light of the Savior.

O come, Thou Day-spring, come and cheer
Our spirits by Thine advent here;
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night,
And death’s dark shadows put to flight.

Come, Thou long expected Jesus

Born to set Thy people free;
From our fears and sins release us,
Let us find our rest in Thee.
Israel’s Strength and Consolation,
Hope of all the earth Thou art;
Dear Desire of every nation,
Joy of every longing heart.

And just because....  here are pictures of our sweet girl.

The Many Faces of Emmeline

It amazing how many faces a wee little girlie can make in
the first six weeks of her life.  But we're learning what they mean and
they sure do make us laugh.  How we love you Emme. As the smiles
and coos begin to arrive we anticipate many more firsts as we grow together.
