Four Years....

 Its been four years since:
that difficult, but beautiful  day- our hospital wedding where we committed
to each other in the valley of the shadow of death- as Mom began her way to heaven.
(May 18-2008)
since we committed to love and cherish each other,
Tenth Presbyterian Church
(June 28th, 2008)
since dear pastors and friends and family joined us to celebrate
God's faithfulness in weaving our lives together
Since we began our journey of together.

We've been lots of places together
To Ireland and Oxford and two simultaneous Phds
(what were we thinking?)
We've laughed and cried together
walked and talked together

We've lived in Four places in Four Years and have tales to tell
about each place

We've had 10 jobs between the two of us in four years: thrown together concerts
research, canning, gardening in the fringes of long days.

We've solved all the worlds problems at nearby parks, even wrote half
our dissertations that way too

Here's the journey God has faithfully brought us through and we rejoice!
(Engagement Night where A fell asleep on this chair for an hour after
we arrived home to tell J's family)

And how blessed I have been.  Here's to more adventures and laughter, growing together
and growing in grace.  I'll love you always.....

(And here's to our latest adventure-coming soon)

Let the lazy Summer days begin

Around here summer has certainly arrived.  Stay tuned for garden updates.
In the meantime- a few photos:

A busy Saturday

Somehow in the middle of finishing chapters or our
dissertations in the wee hours of the morning we decided that the
best therapy is making real food and eating it.

We made homemade hamburger rolls for supper tonight

And J's traditional birthday cake-the one Mom K used to
makeeach June

We made Ricotta Cheese - it turned out more like Farmers Cheese
this time.  Ah well.

And to use up our whey we threw in some bread.
We are also thanking the Lord for the blessing of our Fathers and the special place they hold in our individual and joint lives. We love you!

Ice cream

This is a quick post to document that the 2012 Homemade Ice Cream Season has officially begun.
Although we make ice cream regularly all year, we eat it at a much quicker rate during the warm summer months.  To date our flavors include:  Philadelphia Vanilla, Vanilla Bean, Chocolate,  Chocolate Raspberry, Peanut Butter, Strawberry, Peach, Mango Sorbet, Toasted Coconut, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Mint, and our latest, Chocolate Almond Cherry.

Mountain Escape Part 2

Our vacation was relaxing because we had no agenda. Life just unraveled
for five delightful days.

Our mornings usually involved breakfasts like this one- rare treats
for us- we did not go out but made breakfast ourselves, which to us is
more fun.

Adam walking a trail

Writing letters on the deck

Sailing in a difficult cove

Adam rowed out to the island and saw a bald eagle.  The island
is closed because they nest there.

Reading on the dock

Sunset over the lake

Mountain Escape Part 1

For our Mini-Mountain get away we thought we would have rainy, grey days.
We would have been content. However the weather was wonderful and thus the weather predictions
a far cry from God's plan. We reveled in the stillness, the beauty and the fellowship of being together.
We read books, wrote letters, talked, played games and enjoyed the quiet days that helped us regain
margin.
Our house in the woods

Just arrived-tired, pregnant lady in need of rest!

Adam out in the Kayak

Mist on the Lake

Lakawack Wildlife Sanctuary

There were literally hundreds of these Orange Newts.  We were so afraid of stepping
on them.  They were sweet and shy creatures we enjoyed finding.
