Pears and Beans

The pears are finished and we're loving our new Weck jars! The smell of pears cooking made it seem
like Autumn is really coming though the humidity and heat outside (plus the canner) made it feel like summer is giving us a finale. Amidst all the pears, Emmeline made us laugh today with her new game of 'put your beans on your head'. What a silly wee girl we have these days.  The bean game often includes rubbing the rest of dinner in your hair which is always a thrill too.

On Holiday

We are on holiday over here and enjoying every minute of it. There's a lot of staying in our pajamas, reading books and resting as well as baby's first hike and toe dipping in waterfalls. Then there are pears ripening in preparation for canning tomorrow and baking happening for get togethers with friends and family.  Our holiday is off to a splendid start.

Ten Months

Darling Girl,

You are 10 months old! How much fun we're having now as you stand and walk on your own.  You are making daily discoveries and it is a joy to watch you grow.  You have many words: cat, baby, book, hi, hey, mama, dada, papa, nana, but by far cat is your favorite. Right now everything is 'dat'.
You eat so well, eating most thing we put in front of you, but your favorite is certainly peas.  Your beloved occupation is still 'reading' books.  But now you narrate to us and clap your hands when seeing your bookshelves.  You dance when you hear any music and enjoy the 'putting in and taking out' game especially.  Going outside has also become a real thrill. You love to look up at blowing tree leaves, to run your hands on the bark, to crinkle brown leaves, to eat a bean from the vegetable garden, to swing in your swing or to wave at any passerby.  You are still such a mover, which must be why you sleep 4 hours a day for naps still! But you're sweet and loving, giving juicy kisses and cuddling with us.  Its hard to believe we once had a life without you because you are such a joy to us now and have been for 10 months.

Peaches and a Wedding

August is usually so hot and dry.  But this year it is beautiful, perfect for canning peaches and perfect for an outdoor wedding. Mom came down and we put up peaches. Thanks Mom-I don't think Emmie and I could have pulled it off without you.  Come mid-winter we'll be able to eat a bit of summer.

Our friends Aubrey and Brian were married at a beautiful farm.  Emmeline went to her first wedding
and did so well. She loved looking at all the people, although everyone was called"cat".
