Thankful

And here we are. We've been to Conneticut to see my cousin Brian married. We went bowling and have had some tea parties. We pretended to be Aunt Bec who is expecting Baby K soon......We've had thanksgiving and spent special time with Oma and Opa and Aunts and Uncles and cousins. So much fun! Our hearts are full of gratitude for God's goodness to us and for each other.

Healing and slowing

We have been so busy! Too busy! The days have been whirling by and we're sensing a need for a quieter rhythm. It feels like it is almost time to hibernate (at least to Mama Bear here). The girls are growing and learning. Emmeline's greatest thrills include the Nutcracker Ballet (the theme of her class right now), addition, and practicing the piano.  Lena is thrilled with identifying colors, singing at the top of her lungs and carrying her dolls in makeshift baby carriers (I see I need to find a pattern for a child sized ERGO baby carrier!).  Lena is NOT enjoying ballet. As I learn what autoimmune disease means for me, we're gradually shifting our diet and lifestyle to live in a more consciously health focused manner. We're learning yoga together, we're making detox juice, we're sleeping more. After 8 years of Phd life it is time for a much needed change and the process is harder than you might think. You can't undo years of chronic stress overnight.  I always wondered why my babies were so colicky, so stressed out and then I realized they must've learned it from me. So we're praying and listening, reading and slowing down.  How you do that with two toddlers, while house shopping and owning a business is interesting but we're working on it! We've had nice picnic lunches with friends and lots of marching in crunchy leaves, learning new ballet moves and even (gasp) playing nicely together!

Cozy

We haven't quite been sure if it is Spring or Autumn in the past weeks. But most days have a least a bit of a nip in the air and we've been digging for warmer sweaters and hats, capturing as much sunlight as we can and sitting by a cozy fire in the evenings.  With the furnace acting up and hot water less than it should be we're thankful for the warm afternoons.  Today we picked up Nana for a belated birthday walk in her beloved Pipersville. Each year it is golden around the time of her birthday and since I was a little girl we've walked that path and listened to the quiet around us. This year the Littles came along and it was an especially beautiful morning.  Nana's house was just up the hill and memories flooded me as we walked around the beautiful place.  Happy Birthday Nana. 92 is no small feat and we're praising God for you!
