Remembering green days

One of my sweet students took some pictures of the girls in the early fall and she gave them to me recently. It's a happy memory from greener days.

Waiting for spring

We are waiting, not so patiently, for spring. Every day we put on our boots and romp around the yard to see if there is any improvement in the mud situation. So far, there is not.  In fact, as we wait for another predicted snow storm on the first day of spring we're doing our best to distract ourselves with indoor activities.  We celebrated Granddad's birthday, had our co-op's end of term exercises, got a big girl bed for a certain three almost four year old, had a "read by lantern" sleep over and have been studying the great artists, doing our own "Monet's water lilies".  We visit the farm where we get our milk and wait expectantly for the chance to meet the new babies. Come sweet spring, we're ready for you.

Snow....repeat

Well, March has supplied us with more snow than we've had all winter.  It's been an exciting time without power and snowmen, Papa's birthday and some cabin fever crazies because we've hit that part of winter.  Downed trees and swampy yards prove to be extra exciting lure to two small people who shall remain nameless.

In like a lion

March is here, and with it, A's birthday- Happy birthday!!! We have a bit of catch up to do here with pictures of late winter snow and visit with Carol, (my Dad's cousin and only other living relative besides us). The grey days are back so we're making the most of it with fires and tea and music.  Claude the cat has found a new nest in the guitar case and Lena and Emmeline have a few new phrases I want to remember always:

"I am faithful today" - E
"I need to hear some nusic" - L
"I don't want to eat more gochini" -L  (Zucchini)
"Bless you" E (whenever she sneezes)

Sometimes winter feels cold and dark and the days long and hard.  But in them God hides blessings that are worth the fight to find.  He is good.
