Upon a Golden Day

One gorgeous sunlit day we found a grove of trees and basked in the sun. The goldenrod was blooming and the leaves were crunchy and little people were happy.

Upon a rainy day

Once upon a time.....it rained!  The girls danced gleefully and we remembered what rain sounded like on the roof.  The rainy day also became a restful day as Mama has a fever and is doing catching up from the couch. Bleh! The weeks have felt rather hard.  Rounds of illnesses and hospital bills, a new infestation of carpenter ants, a house hunt, weariness creeping in to all of our bones, a very unhappy teething two year old and the routines of life- these things bear heavy.  But in the stillness one can remember God's goodness and His gracious, watchful care over us in the heavy moments. This world will be full of troubles but HE has overcome the world. And since we know that He cares for us in all of these things, we trust Him.

Before the last round of troubles we made it to the Lehigh Valley Zoo with Granddad. It was so hot but the girls were happy to see some creatures that made us laugh. The penguins and birds were a big hit. We also had the happy birthday party of our dear little friend Skylar, though from the bottom picture you might not be able to tell how happy we were to be there. Ballet has begun again (for both girls) and piano lessons and the occasional walk at the park since the evenings have been cooler.

September's arrival

September arrived and we had some special days with Oma, a quick visit to see Nana and a few more hot days to get through.  We're enjoying cooler evenings and a few romps at parks to check out the Goldenrod and yellow daisies, the cricket songs and the slow winding down of summer.  Autumn is beginning to arrive in bits and pieces. Yellow sycamore leaves are falling down and the air smells strangely musty and earthy. Pigtails and funny hats, big sunglasses and fancy bows- these girls are a hoot.
