Three

Dearest Emmeline,

Today you are three years old! We can hardly imagine life existed before you as you bring such joy to our lives.  At three you are about 29 pounds and 3 feet tall. You have fine light brown hair and light blue eyes. You are such a little person! You continue to love books and learning, alone time, cuddling, music and art.  Your new loves include ballet, princesses, the violin and Scripture memory.  You are so smart. You know your ABC's, can count to 17, can draw lines and circles, can write the letter E and number 1, can count to five in German, play a scale and match a pitch. Your memory is remarkable and you not only know your Westminster Catechism, but you know the questions as well as the answers.  You are so strong willed and we're learning first time obedience, listening and gentle love of your sister, patience and sweetness.  You fight your nap/rest-time but still very much need a lot of sleep. You are so tender hearted and cry frequently. You are also so funny! You call Daddy Long Legs "Long Daddies"..... I can see this is going to be a magical age, of deep understanding, of exploration, of joyful wonder. You don't like to eat as it seems you're just too busy to stop. You are scared of bears, thunderstorms, and wind. You can also be slow as molasses.  You love tractors, cars, baby dolls, the color yellow (though you are considering purple), cooking, pancakes, washing the car, riding your bike, books and playing with friends. You are sad garden season is over.  How we delight in you and the gift that you are in our lives. God is good to us.  Happy Birthday darling girl, Emmie B.
