Five Months Old!

Emmeline, you're five months old today! You're our sweet love and darling girl. How'd
we ever live without you? You are so busy these days- moving and kicking and grabbing and looking.
You've discovered eyes- our eyes, dolly's eyes, eyes in books.  You can turn yourself around and over. You love your baths and books and music.  You currently despise your changing table. You've also discovered that you can talk and squeal. So much fun!  You eat so much!  Its snowing tonight, just a few days away from spring and we're so looking forward to spring with you, watching you take in the world. Papa is currently your favorite person in the world, Mama second and the cats mesmerizing.

Love,
your Momma and Papa

Celebrations

We had a fun time celebrating Adam's thirtieth birthday this past weekend with family and friends. An added perk was sharing our little Emmie with everyone.  Yeah for wonderful food, fellowship and a great reason to celebrate!

We had such a fun dinner together with our friends the Petersons!

Friday was cooking day- lots of food stuffed in our fridge!

It was like a reunion with so many old college friends!

Here's the birthday boy with the two people who gave him life! Thanks Dad and Mom!

The discovery of Sound

Four Months is fun! It seems as if Emmeline is discovering new things every hour and her awareness of the world around her grows by leaps and bounds.  This week she discovered sounds and the piano.  Since before she was born Emmie has been hearing music. (No surprise there, right?)  She's been sitting at the piano with us since the day she came home from the hospital. But this week she discovered that if she moves her hands on the keys, sound comes out.  Playing a Beethoven Sonata with Miss E proves quite hilarious.  She's also discovered the sound of cats meowing. And she stares them down.

Emmie is working on a tooth, and to our delight she's discovered some self-soothing methods of her thumb and putting teethers or fingers in her mouth.  She's also rolling over like a champ- in fact, she'll roll 10 x in 2 minutes just for the fun of it I think.

Emmeline met Liz this week! What a fun time we had together- Liz and Jenny were roommates in the good old college days and now Miss E has met our dear friend! Woo hoo.

Look what else we're discovering!  Sweet potatoes and rice cereal.  What a huge help to reflux! And so tasty too.

Such cute booties!!!

On Saturday we had dinner with Emmeline's great grandmother (Nana).  She enjoyed all the new sights and sounds.

And on Sunday we had a nice post church waffle lunch with Granddad before heading back to church for Lenten Vespers.  Its been a busy week exploring, but oh so much fun!

Four Months Old

Dear Emmeline,
Today you are four months old! You are so much fun now with all your rolling and talking.  You have perfected the "Guh"  sounds.  These days you're doing a lot of sleeping and growing and we're taking walks on warmer days, reading a lot of books and you are chewing on everything imaginable. Are you getting a tooth? You've had your first cold and have discovered the fur of your cat siblings. You listen to a lot of piano lessons and music in our house and we wonder what instrument you'll play someday.  With your lungs you could easily be a singer.  You are so strong Emmie and seem ready to take on the world.  I think we'll have to baby-proof our house sooner than we expected.  Sweet baby girl- we love you.  How did we live without you before?

Miss E Reads

Our house is filled with books. We read.... a lot. Thus it was so much fun to watch Emmeline discover books.  This week she suddenly took to books. Granted she only likes the baby faces and stripes on their outfits.  But she was entranced and quietly looking at each page. Sweet baby girl just wait until you see how many stories are yet to come. When we first were married and setting up house, it was a thrill to join our books together on the shelf- to see who had what books- to grow our library.  Now we have an ever growing Library of Books for Emmeline and the same delight returns to our home again- sharing books together.
