Time at the Zoo

So we went to the Lehigh Valley Zoo today with Mark, Bec and Sammy. It was a fun time.

This guy was so happy in his trough

Red tailed hawk

Adam was having fun- really he was. But he didn't want his picture taken.

Sammy loved the animals but he was more interested in walking and pushing his stroller.

The otters looked so happy swimming in the sun.

Guess Who's Walking!! Sammy Kleeman.

Last Saturday we took a "holiday" at Peace Valley Park and read by the lake. It was a lovely time in the sun even if it was a bit hot. A swim in Dad's pool afterwards cooled us off.

Nothing like quilts and books and grass in the summertime!

The following day we had a wonderful sunlit picnic and stroll through the Morris Arboretum with our friends the Petersons.

What a beautiful place!

There was even a Fernery!

So many ferns!

Healing and Sunday Walks

So its been a little stressful at our house dealing with healing from surgery and the hectic rhythm of life.  But the way we relax and heal seems to be through cooking and being outdoors.
Adam's homemade Gnocchi from our French Cook Book:
Sunday Suppers at Lucques- Delicious!

When we walk the Perkiomen Trail we forget our worries and remember our
thanksgivings. We seem better able to rejoice in the now.

It is lovely to have waterfalls and rapids in our own backyard, even if they are small.

But our real goal for this week's Sunday Walk was to gather Honeysuckle.
Any idea why we wanted to gather it? Stay tuned.......

Happy Day

Our dear friends welcomed their third daughter Eden Irene Soucy to the world on June 7! Congratulations Gil and Erin, Naomi and Ailsa!  I have known Erin since pre-school and then as pen-pals while she was in Africa.  Then we were roommates at college!  We're so thrilled for you!

Remembering June 5, 2008- Glory day

My Momma with Naomi Soucy, her first adopted grandchild.

Three year ago today, our beautiful Momma left this broken-down, sin-filled world and entered eternity and her heavenly home.  Three years ago she had just witnessed our ICU wedding and sung "Praise to the Lord the Almighty" with her failing voice to Adam's recorded organ music.  Three years ago she had undergone 3 surgeries and her body was displaying the curse of a fallen world.  But then on June 5, just hours before my 27th birthday,  she went to the arms of the Savior and was freed from sin and sickness and found all fullness and joy in the Lord's presence.  I do not know the particulars of life after death, but I know it is all good with our good Savior, that our loss was her final and wondrous gain and we rejoice in remembering not the painful farewell of that difficult day, but my Momma's glory going, her coming to the Savior- praise be to God!

There and Back Again: Part 2

We spent a lot of time looking at old books- wonderful old hymnals, handbooks, devotional books and discussing the current state of our research
Emblems on a 17th century liturgical handbook written by a woman, Magdalena Cybilla

This is a personal prayer someone wrote in the back of their devotional book. These were small enough to carry in one's pocket

Deyling was the Superintendent who examined Bach for the post of cantor in Leipzig.
This is his liturgical handbook

Driving back home again we went along the coast of Maine/New Hampshire

A burst of yellow at the feeder. For some reason NH birds looked larger to us! Are they?
