Emmeline, you are Five!

Dear Emmeline,

You are Five!  Happy Birthday to our darling girl! You are so strong, so bright, so tender.  You are a helper and a gentle soul. You love beautiful things you see that God made and you love your sister and family deeply.  This year has been full of so much growth. You are reading, you are playing the piano and learning to read music. You started Kindergarten and continue ballet.  You love math, architectural design, organizing things, routine and art.  You love learning and your questions keep on coming!  The world around you is growing and you are jumping into it whole heartedly. This year you came to learn about animals as part of diet and want to become a vegetarian. You have a lot of energy but also love quiet times alone to color, listen to audio books or play.  You and Lena are (FINALLY), playing together with joy and this blesses our hearts so much.

You are funny and you know it. Here are few things I want to always remember about your little heart and mind at five:

- When you sneeze you say "Bless you".
-Your version of John 3:16  "For God so loved the world, He gave His only forgotten Son"...
-You love washing hands
-You are a perfectionist
-You still love yellow
-You love birds
-You love history

catch up

October snuck up on us and we have hardly cataloged September. So here's a bit of catch up on the second half of the month. Ballet and Co-op started up and we are enjoying getting into a routine Two special birthday parties with two special little friends, a romp around Ott's Greenhouse, Lena's first trip to the dentist, playdates with special friends and a 50th Anniversary Party for Oma and Opa topped off the month. In between there have been a lot of fall craft days, bird studies, poetry reading, and memorization of Scripture (we're up to G in the alphabet of Bible verses).  As the weather shifts into actual Autumn weather we are enjoying every last bit of out doors that we can manage. I for one am relishing having a four year old for a few more weeks. Five seems oh so big.
